You\u2019re going to screw some of those up.\u201d And just like in the VC business, it\u2019s wise to understand the difference between two types of errors. Mistakes of commission \u2014 losing everything you invest in a company \u2014 can be tough, but you\u2019ll get over them in time. Errors of omission \u2014 not investing in the first place \u2014 will scar you for life. \u201cEvery highly successful VC has made mistakes of omission, really big ones, of companies that they had the chance to invest in, they should\u2019ve invested in, they didn\u2019t invest in,\u201d Andreessen says. \u201cTake the bet, lose 1X.
