Guest Opinion – Entrepreneurship: Nerds & rich people – Oakland Business Review – MLive.com
On February 3rd, I re-read an essay by Paul Graham titled How to be Silicon Valley, where he states:
"It would be a waste of time to try to reverse the fortunes of a declining industrial town like Detroit or Philadelphia by trying to encourage startups. Those places have too much momentum in the wrong direction.“
Technically, UM is in Ann Arbor, which Graham describes as a "town young people already flock to”, but I still believe Detroit has the potential to be an entrepreneurial hub, based on the people I have met that are trying to make it happen.
